Autumn Week Workshops 22 – 25th October
Over the last few years we have devoted a week each Autumn to offering workshops to all students and staff. All regular classes are suspended during this time, and we invite the skills of both those resident here and as well as alumni and local artists and artisans to share their talents and time with us.
As I write this we are at day two of the Autumn Week and it is really wonderful to see students come alive in new ways, discover themselves through engaging in focused activities and working with intensity and creativity in small groups.
This year the workshops include: film making, traditional animation, book binding, Japanese cooking, contemporary dance, sound engineering, ceramics,
song writing, aesthesie-bodywork, an overnight orienteering and backpacking trip and an IT skills class.
The Autumn Week is an endeavour to emphasise several things: it is an exploration into the wider contexts of education such as the learning that
can take place outside of the classroom as well as the exploration of doing regular academics differently.
Overall, it is a rediscovery of where our passion and love for learning lie, and it makes us face both the challenge and joy of working closely with others.
If you feel you may be able to offer your skills for future Autumn weeks, please get in touch with us.
